Just like anyone else with a S30 Datsun who wants fender flares. I'm having a hard time. First and foremost I was forced to buy bassett racing steelies to get the offset and size I want . Now I understand that cheap wheels don't come in good sizes but I'm looking for a set of 4 for less than 1000 bucks without tires and have had ZERO luck. Atara Racing makes a few but they all cost over 1300 bucks for the size I'd like to have.
Bolt Pattern : 4x114.3
15 or 16 x 10- 11 with a negative offset. I've already made this offer to one other but if a fellow oppo finds me some wheels that are below the 1000 dollar mark in a compatible offset and size I'll send you 50 bucks !
I'm also now in the market for tires. These tires need to be below 150 a piece and come in a nice fat size that will fit on my car. I'm looking for anything comparable to a 225/50/15 that's a tad bigger without making the sidewall massive. 255/45/15 ? 265/45/15 ? I don't think they exist but again 50 bucks to the guy who finds the perfect set of tires.
dare I say 295/40/15 ?

Tires? Conti DW. Lots of grip and pretty cheap.

Might want to add what you're bolt pattern is for the wheels, not everyone has had to buy wheels for a Datsun before ;)

I will say that usually for the smaller diameter and wide wheels, especially when looking for more negative offsets, the place I usually start is American Racing and other muscle car oriented manufactures. If you had the coin to throw at it I would suggest looking into 2-piece Weld Wheels, they can typically be reverse mounted for some odd offsets.

If you find any versions of street tires in any of those sizes please post up. I haven't seen a 50 series or lower in a width greater than 225 in quite some time.
Only exception is the Hankook Ventus in 265/50/15 or drag radials.

Those are not even offered in a 15" rim size.

I understand that the issues all come from my bolt pattern. I could run a 17x10 if I could find it in a 4x114.3 .

The Ventus is just soooooooo mild.. If spec miata wasn't spec we wouldn't have this issue but all those guys run 205/50/15's ..

I had Hankook Ventus RS2s in 225/45-15 on my old Miata but that was several years ago. I bought them in like 2007 I think?

What I would suggest is a set of 15 or 16 x 8 or 9 and get some 275 or 285 tires...

A little over budget, but who cares? You're running 345 wide tires!

Yup. There's pretty much no demand for a low profile 15 so here we are.

Yeah, I just looked and Toyo has a 225/45/15 that's new and for street use. Not wide enough for me (and probably Datassun as well).

what type of tire are you looking for?
does it need to be a performance tire? can touring specs work?

doesn't matter .. I've found a few 235/50/15's so far but they aren't cheap AT ALL

right... the pirelli p4000 (i think 4000) has been one of the last high performance tires in similar sizes.
they were OE on my 80's jaguar, in 235/55/15, but i think at >$200 a pop, i went to an 18 inch wheel, and smaller sidewall tires.
bridgestone radial T/A were an option in those sizes, tirerack has them at 295/50/15, but probably a little too much sidewall in that 50 section. also, 180 each.
doing the calculus for new wheels and tires for strange fitments can be exhausting.

I know everyone has them but I'm partial to Work Equips. Sure they are 450-500/wheel but just run the steelies until you can drop find a good set of used ones.

the negative offset is the hard part I think. http://www.performanceplustire.com/products/produ…
some quick googling brought up this. no offset specified though.

If you take a 5" backspacing and figure out the back spacing it would be about -0 .. won't work.. Plus those are steelies.

Tire options that aren't R-compounds or slicks:
225/45-15
Toyo Proxes R1R
225/45-16
Toyo Proxes R1R
Dunlop Direzza ZII Star Spec
245/45-16
Toyo Proxes T1R
Bridgestone Potenza RE-11
Pretty much anything wider than those you're looking at competition tires. R-compounds would at least be street legal but I dunno if you want to run those on the street because they're not going to last very long at all.
Assuming you went for 16" wheels to get those 245 tires, I found a couple zero-offset options, not quite what you said, but close.

Couldn't have said this better myself. Without having coilovers it makes it even more aggrivating because I can't just lower my car if there's a massive gap.

I made a bigger post , but Toyo R1R and Bridgestone RE-11 come in 245/45- 16 .

If he upgrades to 16" then yeah, he can get 'em. But if he sticks with the 15" Bassetts he already bought he's out of luck.

I guess if you can find a wheel center from a 3 piece wheel you can buy new shells to get the offset you want. Could be cheaper
